Kabetogama area fishing report, snowmobile trail and ice conditions. 12/31/2019

Kabetogama area fishing report, snowmobile trail and ice conditions.  12/31/2019 Snow and more snow!  Fishing inconsistent as ice conditions deteriorate and snowmobiling coming on strong. As we move into the new year, the northland is looking a lot more like winter.  Over the last week we have had two snowfallevents and now have a good 20 inches or more on the groundproducing slushy conditions making travel difficult on the lake.  Snowmobilers are a more common sight, but some caution needs to be taken when hitting the trails.  As of today, the only open, groomed trail is the Green Trail from [...]

Kab fishing, ice conditions and snowmobile trail update. 12/24/2019.

2020-01-08T15:26:22+00:00Uncategorized|

Kab fishing, ice conditions and snowmobile trail update. 12/24/2019. Kab continues to make good ice.  There is a good 10-16 inches in most areas, but some anglers have reported less than 7 inches when venturing further North and East past Martin Island and then towards Lost Bay.  Continue to check ice conditions while moving around. Walleye fishing has been fair to good in recent days.  A good mix of all sizes are being caught throughout Kab.  Focusing on rock/mud transition areas has been key then staying on the soft bottom edge in 25 to 35 feet of water with deeper [...]

Kab fishing, ice conditions and snowmobile trail update. 12/17/2019.

2020-01-08T15:30:37+00:00Uncategorized|

Kab fishing, ice conditions and snowmobile trail update. 12/17/2019. Ice conditions continue to improve on Lake Kabetogama and the reports coming in are good to excellent. Most areas have 8-12 inches of good ice and more walleye anglers are venturing out using snowmobiles and side by sides. Casey from Reef Runner Rentals is experiencing a good bite and expects to have a great start to the season. Vehicle travel is still not advised but snowmobiles, ATVs and side-by-sides are working well to get anglers to their favorite spots.  Spear fishing has slowed somewhat but continues to keep people on their toes! Kab area fishing, hunting and outdoors report.   HUNTERS SUPPER THIS SAT NOV 9th. Details below! Winter here to stay? A couple inches of fresh snow on the ground and skim ice starting to form on most bays and shorelines would indicate we are. Tom Cod is almost completely froze and it looks to stay that way. Smaller area lakes are almost ice covered if not already. The main basin on Kab is open but that is usually the last to freeze. With the cold nights and temps not getting above freezing in the foreseeable future, we may have an [...]

Kab Fishing and Outdoors Report 8/26/2019

Kab Fishing and Outdoors Report 8/26/2019 A little quieter around the lake this past week mostly due to the weather but the fish are there if you can get past the rain and wind. As water temperatures have dropped a good 10 degrees over the past week fishing has changed as well. Another major bug hatch occurred late last week and seems to be quite persistent. As you read the guide reports below you will see there is a fall transition in place. Around the area, most are starting to think fall as temps have struggled to get into the [...]

Kab area fishing and outdoor activities report. August 19, 2019 This past week the full moon put on quite a display. Clear cool nights have water temps dropping a little and fall seems to be making an early arrival. Most pelicans have left the lake which seems a bit early and hummingbirds are hitting feeders and flowers hard in preparation for fall migration. Canada geese are on the wing and ducklings are not so small anymore. It seems to indicate an early Fall, but Mother Nature can be unpredictable! Fishing is still fantastic as you can tell by reading the [...]
