COVID-19 Kabetogama Safety Update

The Kabetogama Lake Resorts are so grateful for all of the guests that visit our Kabetogama Lake community. We recognize that the many families and outdoor enthusiasts that visit us plan vacations well in advance and return year-after-year.

For this reason, our priority is to honor all of our reservations and our businesses are making every effort to provide a clean, safe and healthy destination for you.

National Park and Business Highlights:

  • Voyageurs National Park is open and free; contact the visitor center directly for updated information on limited services and hours. For camping within Voyageurs National Park, refer to their website.
  • Resorts have prepared for guest and are taking additional any questions or concerns on reservation policies and to confirm your plans.
  • The Kabetogama establishments currently open are the Gateway General and four restaurants for take-out and outside dining, seating is limited to 4 people per table or 6 if immediate family
    • Arrowhead Lodge and Restaurant
    • Kec’s Kove
    • Sandy Point Lodge & Resort
    • The Rocky Ledge
  • All private and public campgrounds are now open to recreational camping. This means that campsites that are reserved for temporary or rotating use for purely recreational and short term purposes are allowed. This includes Woodenfrog State Forest Campground and local resorts.

We’re staying in step with Federal and State guidance as information becomes available about the coronavirus. We’ve received from the Governor’s Office the following direction for operators:

Resorts

  • The hotel portions of resorts (including rented cabins) can open as planned and can accept guests.
  • Guests do not have to be members of a critical sector to stay at a resort.
  • Communal amenities may not be open for use, except for the following that may be open provided social distancing and enhanced cleaning protocols are followed:
    • Retail food stores
    • Laundry facilities
    • Fish cleaning stations and docks
  • While resorts can accept visitors, the Stay at Home Order continues to discourage unnecessary travel, and the Order asks people to remain close to their homes.
  • Resorts do not have to open if they are not comfortable doing so.

RV Resorts

  • People who rely on their campsite as a primary residence, or that are seasonal renters and who maintain personal property at their site, can continue to utilize the RV resort.
  • Campsites can be used on a short term or temporary basis by people who require necessary shelter for the purposes of work or required social distancing.
  • Campsites that are reserved for temporary or rotating use for purely recreational and short term purposes are not allowed.
  • Communal amenities may not be open for use, except for the following that may be open provided social distancing and enhanced cleaning protocols are followed:
    • Bathrooms/shower buildings
    • Retail food stores
    • Laundry facilities
    • Fish cleaning stations and docks
  • While people can visit RV resorts as outlined above, the Stay at Home Order continues to discourage unnecessary travel, and the Order asks people to remain close to their homes.
  • RV resorts do not have to open if they are not comfortable doing so.

Private and Public Campgrounds

  • As of June 1st, 2020 all private and public campground are open again.
  • As of May 18th, 2020 Voyageurs National Park has reopened access to backcountry camping and canoe rentals. All backcountry camping that offers canoe rentals, which is defined as camping on the interior of the Kabetogama Peninsula, will require an advanced 4 day permit on www.recreation.gov This will allow staff and visitors ample time to arrange key pick-up while park facilities are closed.   • Park Staff remind visitors who are getting camping and houseboat permits to ensure permits are printed at home. There will be no facility at the park to assist in printing a permit.
