Kabetogama Fishing Report

Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 4/27/15

As fishing opener closes in, the ice went out early, the waters warming up and walleyes are spawning which should lead us to a great opener.

High water last year gave way to low water this year. Don’t be surprised to see more rock outcroppings than a typical year.

Some rain would go a long ways to help landings and docks, but good fishing will help offset the loss. In past years this scenario has brought us great openers.

Some folks have been crappie fishing, and enjoying an early look at summer as the bite has been slow.

Friends look forward to sunshine, lollypops and roses, make the very worthwhile trip to Kabetogama, alias: Voyageurs National Park.

Be advised that all Kabetogama campsites are now on the reservation system. No other camping in the park is allowed. That is all new this year.   To make reservations please go to www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777 for assistance.

Many resorts as well as Woodenfrog State Campground and the Ash River State Campsites usually have some availability. The sites are nice and primitive.

Find The Top Minnesota Ice Fishing on Lake Kabetogama

It’s no secret that one of the best things to do in Minnesota when the snow flurries begin to fall and the temperatures dip below freezing is Minnesota ice fishing. Each winter, Minnesota morphs into snow-covered landscapes and glass-top lakes with ice thick enough to drive on. This is the season that many anglers cannot wait to head to Lake Kabetogama.
