Vacation Spots in Minnesota

And we’ll start just outside your resort door!

Vacationing at Kabetogama Lake brings your family back to simpler times. There is no rush to be had. No traffic to beat. Simply walk outside to take in the fresh air under those blue Minnesota skies.

Take it slow, being present in each moment you get to spend with the whole family – a treasure in itself!

Take it to the next level by creating your own adventure day on the trails. Discover one of numerous quiet islands, exploring shorelines, wading and swimming into the beautiful waters of Kabetogama and chancing upon beautiful spots for picnics, rest and story times.

If your family would like to explore the area with a little more direction and insight, set up a guide through the National Park Service. Knowledgeable staff can share interesting historical facts including geographical change, indigenous peoples and industry over time.

Interested in the flora and fauna of the region? Ask your guide about what animals and plants call Northern Minnesota home. Perhaps you’ll want to take your new knowledge to the trails and shoreline for birding and animal spotting.

A visit to the Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center is another great choice. Enjoy a quick park film in their theater before exploring the interactive exhibits, children’s activity table and bookstore. On site you’ll also find a beach, trail access, boat access, dock and scenic outlook.

If fishing is top of your family resort fun, Kabetogama is the perfect place to do it! Whether you’ve brought a boat, will rent a vessel or will charter a guide, your time on the water will be met with lots of opportunity to land a variety of fish including walleye, sauger, smallmouth bass, perch, northern pike and crappies.

Here in Northern Minnesota the sun does not set until close to 10PM giving you lots of daylight hours for family-friendly play. When you are ready to settle down, don’t forget about enjoying the night sky, too. Both kids and adults will delight in the amazing sky gazing in Voyageurs National Park (a certified International Dark Sky Place). Add another layer of vacation fun with a smores session!

For family friendly resorts in Minnesota, choosing one of our favorites here at Kabetogama Lake is an excellent decision. From summer days on the water, along the trails or under the gorgeous night sky, your family will enjoy vacation moments with memories to last a lifetime.
