Here on beautiful Kabetogama Lake Spring is always a bit of a mystery. It can be sunny and 50 degrees one day and the next it’s snowing and in the 30’s if not colder!
Well today is one of those days! Just when all the snow melts and it feels like Summer is almost here, good ole’ Mother Nature decides to have a laugh at us and send us a day filled with Snow and Fierce winds. Although it has been snowing all day long (not hard), the snow is just now starting to coat the ground. We will see what tomorrow morning will bring…..Personally I’m hoping not much more than what is out there now.
Only in Minnesota is fishing opener in Voyageurs National Park on beautiful Kabetogama Lake a gamble as to weather there will be open water to fish or if “Ice fishing” will be the start to the fishing season. I am confident that the ice will be gone this year but it’s fun to look back at some of the other seasons that started with the lake still froze over.
